About
Darren Dutton is a saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist, composer, and educator living in Washington Heights, Manhattan. He currently teaches elementary general music at The NYC DOE's P17X in the Bronx. He holds a B.M. in Music Education from the Crane School of Music, specializing in band with a concentration in saxophone. During his time at Crane, he performed with several of the school's top instrumental and vocal ensembles as well as the Crane Chamber Competition-winning Reserved Quartet, a student saxophone quartet formed with his peers in 2019. For his degree, he student taught on Long Island at Half Hollow Hills School District.
Darren is a member of Arbutus and Vines, a band formed with some of his classmates during his time at Crane. This June, Arbutus and Vines recorded their debut album, which is scheduled for release around by the end of 2024. He performs with them and with other groups throughout Long Island and New York City, as well as occasionally in the New York capital region. He is also a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia fraternity.
